Full Moon Dinner at Gaining Ground Farm

  • Gaining Ground Farm Leicester, NC (map)

Join us for a special edition of Sunday Supper to celebrate the thaw of winter and first signs of spring.

Under the bright full moon, in the comfort of the hoop house, we invite you to pass plates, share stories and create new memories over a seasonal, family style menu inspired by the bounty grown at Gaining Ground Farm.

Aaron & Anne Grier's commitment to sustainable agriculture and time-honored family traditions make Gaining Ground Farm the perfect setting and partner to share Chef John Fleer's culinary point of view at Rhubarb. Bonded over the simple joys of fresh grown seasonal produce, lovingly tended livestock and the cultural traditions on the farm and in our Southern communities, John, Aaron, Anne, the farmers at Gaining Ground and the chefs at Rhubarb have worked together closely since 2013 to create a reflection of the unique bounty of these mountains. Steeped in history, rich in spirit, and with prideful hard work, life in Western North Carolina is echoed in the fruit of our labors--grown in good soil with love.

Also known as the Full Worm Moon, this first Super Moon of the year  is aptly named for the earthworm casts that begin to reappear in the softened soil, inviting robins and other birds to feed: a true sign of spring. Roots start to push their way down through the soil, and the Earth experiences a re-birth as it awakens from its winter slumber.

Owl of the hollow tree,
Speaking mysteriously,
When the Moons phantom light
Makes my dim chamber bright.
